Estate
The estate develops in a small traditional village, surrounded by three well-exposed hillside amphitheaters and all around extends a dozen acres of property. The acquisition of this historic estate has come at a time of productive and managerial disorganization, and the result was obviously clear to everyone: the vineyards themselves had lost its value, although the estate is located in the center of the Cortese lands, grape that gives rise to elegant and prestigious white wines.
So, we set to work and we started the rehabilitation and reorganization of this estate, guided by the professionality and the expertise of consultants and institutions.
One of the first basic interventions focused on working the soil: in fact, the hills of Gavi are a difficult working environment due to the layer of tuff rock that makes up the ground, covered only by a thin layer of white soil. This composition of the soil naturally limits the production yields, allowing to Cortese vineyards to focus all its vitality in the maturation of few but precious grapes.
To optimize the cultivation of the land was therefore necessary an operation of crushing limestone-tuff layer, a long, expensive and very complicated operation... but in the end results have been encouraging.
Right now we are reaping other vineyards with new plant to be fully operational within 2 / 3 years or so, choosing only wooden poles and accompanying each spin with rose bushes, useful to monitor the presence of parasites and to obtain a visual bucolic ... Indeed the spring-blooming gives to the eyes an enchanting view on the hill.
